Starting today, all of our editorially selected and vetted content is available free to DMOs (destination marketing organizations). The idea is to create an open network of publication-quality information about places that can be used to promote any neighborhood, town, or region. Trazzler content can be plugged into iPhone apps, websites, guidebooks, slideshows, newspaper and magazine features, and tourism brochures.

“Content – especially compelling photography – is essential to destination marketers,” said Gwynne Spann, Content Manager, Visit California. “We strive to provide the most interesting and engaging content in order to showcase the Golden State to potential visitors.  We are extremely pleased that Trazzler will be making their rich content, gathered from thousands of excellent writers and photographers, available to nonprofit organizations like Visit California.”

What makes Trazzler different from all of the other sites that collect information on places? It’s our editorial vision and the skill level of the writers and photographers. Every place you find on Trazzler is here because we think it is good and every featured photo and article has been selected and vetted by an editor. Four years ago, Trazzler launched a radically different kind of publishing platform where writers and photographers could interact directly with editors. Now we’re opening up the results of this experiment to organizations that do good.

Writers and photographers can participate by submitting on the pool of places our editors recommend around the world, or by suggesting a new place.

"Engagement and the authentic experience are core values for our destination," said Brendan McGuigan, Director of Interactive Media at Visit Mendocino County. "Our visitors come as much for the overall ‘feel’ of the county as they do for any specific attraction. Finding an app that reflected those values proved to be virtually impossible, with most functioning simply as geo-locating yellow pages, and a custom build was well outside our budget or time constraints. Then we heard about the localized Trazzler app."

"The Trazzler app is a perfect fit for us. The Open Places initiative lets us leverage the large amount of content already on Trazzler for our destination; social media integration lets our visitors share the beauty and experiences they encounter with their friends; and above all, the interface inspires users to take their own photos and write their own descriptions, helping us flesh out the story of our destination with a diversity of viewpoints that far exceeds anything we could do in-house."

  2. Nonprofits and Open Places Content

Starting today, all of our editorially selected and vetted content will be available free to nonprofits, public radio stations, parks, schools, tourism bureaus, publications, and other approved organizations. The idea is to create an open network of publication-quality information about places that can be used to promote any neighborhood, town, or region—or particular area of interest. Trazzler content can be plugged into iPhone apps, websites, guidebooks, slideshows, newspaper and magazine features, and tourism brochures.

Every week, Trazzler runs photo and writing contests on fun (and even thought-provoking) themes. You can win money, trips, and prizes just for exploring new places and sharing the things you love to do. Your contributions will be shared with world-class nonprofits, and you’ll always get a byline on your writing and photography.
